Are you struggling to decide which sport to enrol your child in this year? Why not try more than one with our Multi-Sport Program? Not only will it keep them active and engaged, but there are also numerous benefits to playing multiple sports.

Our multi-sports program accommodates children of all ages and levels, giving students an opportunity to find out what sport they want to specialise in, and helping them build key abilities like endurance, hand-to-eye coordination, problem solving, communication skills, and many more.

We’ve got 5 reasons why your child should try more than one sport this year. So grab their sneakers and let’s get started!

Why Multi-Sport Participation Matters

As your child enters school, they will be exposed to a variety of sports and activities. Participation in multiple sports helps build physical literacy, as well as an understanding of different sports and their rules and gives students the opportunity to experience a range of physical activities, which can help them decide which sports they are best at and enjoy most.

Our Multi-Sport program is aimed at students aged under 4 and under, who are becoming familiar with movement and sport, to ages 5 to 10 years, who are getting comfortable with their movement and sports. Usually at age 10 and up, students have decided which sports they enjoy the most and can take part in specific sports classes.

The benefits of participating in multiple sports can provide the foundation for a lifetime of healthy active living. Students who participate in multiple sports tend to have higher levels of self-esteem, better social skills, and improved physical fitness than those who only focus on one sport. They may also develop better decision-making skills through their experiences with different teams and coaches.

Here are some of the reasons why children should take part in Multi-Sport Classes.

Reason #1: Developing a Variety of Skills

One of the benefits of having your child try more than one sport is that they will have the opportunity to develop a variety of skills. By playing different sports, your child will learn new techniques and strategies that can be applied to other areas of their life. In addition, they will also gain important social and emotional skills such as teamwork, communication, and leadership. All of these skills will help your child succeed both in their academic pursuits and in their future career.

Reason #2: Improving Physical Fitness

As your child begins to grow, it’s important that they find an activity that helps them improve their physical fitness. Playing multiple sports can help kids improve their overall fitness as each sport has its own unique demands and works different muscle groups. Children will also develop different skill sets. It’s important for kids to be physically active to build strong bones and muscles and improve their cardiovascular health.

Reason #3: Having Fun and Making Friendships

One of the best things about playing sports is that it’s a great way to make friends and have fun. In fact, research has shown that children who are involved in sports are more likely to have better social skills and to be better adjusted overall. Playing multiple sports can also help your child socialise and learn how to work well with others.

Reason #4: Develop coordination Skills

Trying different sports can help your child develop coordination skills, as each sport will teach them how to better coordinate their movements, which can be beneficial in other areas of their life as well.  Children in Multi-Sport classes will need to adapt to a variety of movements for each sport environment is different. Additionally, developing coordination skills can help your child avoid injuries in the future.

Reason #5: Enhancing Cognitive Skills

Cognitive skills are abilities that allow us to think, learn and remember. They include skills such as attention, perception, memory, language, problem solving and decision making. All of these skills are important for success in school and in life.

There is evidence that participating in multiple sports can have a greater impact on cognitive skills than participation in just one sport. A study of 6-8 year old children found that those who participated in three or more sports had better attention, executive function and working memory than those who only participated in one sport.
